Birth Certificates

Birth Certificates

Under the 1961 Hague Convention, an apostille is a certification for authenticating documents for use in foreign countries. The primary purpose of an apostille on a birth certificate is to attest to the document's signature's authenticity. The U.S. Department of State will only issue apostille certificates for federal documents used in countries that are signatories to the 1961 Hague Convention.
